A warm welcome for Ukraine's president in Warsaw. Polish President Andrzej Duda held a ceremony in honour of Wladimir Zelenski's arrival in Poland with his wife. It's a great honour for me to be here today with my wife and I want to thank the President, his team, the Polish government and every Pole for what you have already done. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is also holding talks with Zelenski just 40 days after their last meeting in Kiev. Warsaw has been one of Kiev's closest allies since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, with diplomatic, economic and military support. It has provided over two billion euros in military aid since the start of the war and has been at the forefront of efforts to persuade other Western allies to send weapons to the country. Just two days ago it became the first NATO ally to send fighter jets to Ukraine, whereas others like France and Britain are still hesitant to take such a big step. On the streets of Warsaw, Poles have been praising the Ukrainian President's visit. I am really happy, I hope that a lot of issues that are important both to us and to Ukraine will be discussed. This is a visit that will undoubtedly have a huge importance for further cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. I hope that once the war is over we will have priority in obtaining agreements for the reconstruction of the country. Zelenski is also set to meet with Ukrainians who escaped the war and took refuge in Poland. Since the beginning of the invasion, more than 1.5 million Ukrainians have fled to the country.
